S5 opened on April 22, 2026, the day after the S4 snapshot closed, and ran through June 30, 2026. Staking and governance ran live across the season. By June 2, ~$10M worth of RIVER was staked and voting in governance.
S5 also moved satUSD into real stores.
Two payment integrations went live, and satUSD reached checkout across Argentina, Vietnam, Brazil, and the Philippines, where users bought pizza, coffee, and World Cup jerseys in one tap, the way they spend cash.
S5 is the transition season into Conversion 3.0, River's first seasonal incentive model. Conversion 3.0 balances contributions and sustains token distribution across recurring Seasons.
This recap walks through the products, milestones, and ecosystem growth from the season.
S5 Participation Overview
Eligible participation shifted further toward staking and governance compared to S4. The on-chain user base was more active across the season.
- 82k users participated in S5
- ~1.6M RIVER staked (~$10M worth)
- ~40M River Pts converted during S5
Token and Staking Milestones
S5 is the first season to run on Conversion 3.0. The model balances rewards and growth across recurring Seasons, and sustains the tokenomics and expansion over the long term.
Stake size grew steadily through May and June, holding around $10M worth of RIVER by late June.
Conversion 3.0
Conversion 3.0 shipped May 8. 1.0 encoded time into tokenomics. 2.0 tied conversion to participation. 3.0 balances contribution and sustains distribution across recurring Seasons.
- May 8: Conversion 3.0 launch
- May 9: Mechanism deep dive

Stake growth through S5
- May 27: 62% APR on $RIVER staking
- Jun 19: ~$10M worth of $RIVER staked

Ecosystem expansion
S5 moved satUSD into real spending. Two payment rails put satUSD at checkout across Vietnam, Brazil, Argentina, and the Philippines, where users pay merchants directly while their BTC and ETH stay onchain as collateral.
Spending happens in one tap, the way they spend cash. In Buenos Aires, a satUSD payment for pizza settled to the shop in ARS on the spot
- May 12: River x OKX DEX integration. Swap any asset into satUSD in one tap inside River App, routed through the OKX DEX aggregator with multi-chain support and best-route execution
- May 18: satUSD payments live through @yodlpay across Vietnam, Brazil, Argentina, and the Philippines
- Jun 20: satUSD available on @melonCash_xyz

Conclusion
S5 moved River from onchain mechanics to real-world use. Staked $RIVER reached ~$10M and moved into active governance, launch a recurring seasonal distribution, and River showed up for the community at 10 meetups from Tokyo to Buenos Aires.
The real milestone was spending. For the first time, satUSD became money people use, paid at merchants across Argentina, Vietnam, Brazil, and the Philippines without anyone selling their BTC or ETH.
A stablecoin that holds its value and still gets spent in daily life is the point River has been building toward, and S5 is where it landed.
S6 opens the next chapter. River will expand the product map, with AI among the directions ahead and a focus that points where the next season is headed.
To everyone who staked, voted, and came out this season, thank you for being part of the journey. See you in Season 6.
